MIXED MESODERMAL TUMORS

Mixed mesodermal tumors are highly malignant tumors composed of mesodermal elements from the endometrial stroma as well as epithelial components from the endometrial glands. This report analyzes a series of 25 patients with a median age of 64 years. Forty per cent of the patients were nulliparous and 20 per cent had received prior radiation therapy. Vaginal bleeding was the most common presenting symptom in association with palpable enlargement of the uterus. The median survival has been 12 months, and only 16 per cent of the patients have survived 5 years or more. © 1969.
