摘要
A hollow fiber membrane flow cell interface for mass spectrometry is described. The interior of a silicone rubber hollow fiber membrane is continuously purged with helium while aqueous sample flows continuously over the exterior membrane surface. The helium purge improves permeant transport from the follow fiber interior to the ion source of the mass spectrometer, resulting in decreased response time and sub parts per billion sensitivity for selected volatile organic compounds in drinking water.
