A SYMMETRY PRINCIPLE FOR CORRESPONDING STOKES AND ANTI-STOKES CONTINUUM RESONANCE RAMAN-SCATTERING

摘要
We have recorded high resolution Stokes and anti-Stokes continuum resonance Raman spectra of iodine and isotopically pure iodine bromide with excitation by several argon ion laser lines in the blue to the green spectral region. For specific excitation frequencies the intensities of Stokes and anti-Stokes continuum resonance Raman lines agree well with each other in accordance with a general symmetry relation. The latter is interpreted in detail applying numerical calculations based on time dependent as well as time independent second-order perturbation theory.
