MAGNETIC-BEHAVIOR OF THE 3D SUBLATTICE IN GDCO4-XFEXB, DYCO4-XFEXB, HOCO4-XFEXB, ERCO4-XFEXB

The results of magnetization and magnetic anisotrophy measurements for GdCo(4-x)Fe(x)B (0 < x < 2.6) and RCo2Fe2B with R = Dy, Ho, Er are reported. The observed increase of the Co moment is analysed in the model of magnetism induced by exchange interaction due to a larger magnetic moment of iron. With increasing iron content the easy direction of magnetization in GdCo(4-x)Fe(x)B changes from the c-axis to the base plane and then returns to the c-axis again. The 3d magnetic anisotrophy is discussed in the model of individual site contributions of cobalt and iron ions. Compared to RCo4B a decrease of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in Ro2Fe2B compounds is observed.
