A solution has been obtained to the problem of the motion of a fine magnetic particle in a viscous medium when subjected to an orienting magnetic field. Orientation and scaling curves are obtained which allow the description of the motion to be obtained for any particle with a given acicularity in a medium of any given viscosity. © 1968 The American Institute of Physics.
