摘要
The emergence of strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae with decreased sensitivity to penicillin has resulted in an increasing number of therapeutic failures. Ampicillin, a semisynthetic penicillin, appears to be highly effective in treating patients with gonococcal infections which do not respond to penicillin. This report describes a case of gonococcal conjunctivitis which failed to respond to penicillin in doses usually considered adequate, but which showed remarkable improvement after treatment with ampicillin was started. At the present time it may be advisable to initiate treatment of patients with gonococcal conjunctivitis with both penicillin and ampicillin in full doses. © 1968.
