COMPLICATIONS OF A SINGLE STAGE RADICAL CYSTECTOMY AND ILEAL CONDUIT DIVERSION - REVIEW OF 214 CASES

Single stage radical cystectomy and ileal conduit diversion were performed in 214 patients for treatment of bladder carcinoma. The overall operative mortality rate was only 3.3%. Early complications occurred in 27.6% of patients and late complications were noted in 41.1% of patients followed 6 mo. or longer. Recent arguments for staged procedures as a necessity for reducing operative mortality and morbidity were refuted.
