FINAL-STATE RULE AND THE ABSORPTION-SPECTRA OF 3D FERROMAGNETS

The final-state rule within the local-density approximation is use to explore the effects on the x-ray absorption spectra of a static-spin-polarized core hole in the 2p3/2 States of 3d-transition-metal ferromagnets. The excited atom with a core hole is treated as a single impurity in a lattice within the supercell geometry approach. We have found that the photoelectron localizeson the impurity site mostly as a minority spin substantially reducing the local spin magnetic moment. The position and the shape of the L3 ''white line'' of absorption spectrum changes shape with respect to that calculated for the initial-state rule, i.e., without the core hole.
