摘要
Ortho-hydroxyacetophenoneoxime reacts instantaneously with molybdenum in acidic media to give a highly-stable, bright yellow, soluble complex. Vosburgh and Cooper's method showed the existence of only one complex in the yellow solution with maximum absorption at 345 mμ. The complex was found to be stable at pH 2.5-5.5. Both Job's method of continued variation and the slope ratio method revealed its composition as 1:2 (molybdenum:reagent). The stability constant of the complex was determined by Anderson's method and found to be 9.3 × 108 and-ΔG°=12.39 kcal/mol at 30°C. The results of chemical analysis of the isolated complex for its nitrogen and molybdenum contents correspond to its molecular formula of (C8H8O2N)2. MoO2. The infra-red spectral studies provide evidence that the phenolic hydrogen is replaced by MoO2++ which, in turn, is coordinated to the nitrogen of the oxime (-C=NOH) group to form a chelate compound. © 1969.
