INFLUENCE OF ADULT SIZE AND AGE ON THE FECUNDITY AND LONGEVITY OF TETRASTICHUS-INCERTUS (HYMENOPTERA, EULOPHIDAE)

Daily fecundity, oviposition rate, clutch size, and longevity of Tetrastichus incertus (Ratzeburg) were determined at 25.5-degrees-C and a photoperiod of 14:10 (L:D). Daily fecundity peaked almost-equal-to 48 h after emergence, then decreased steadily as parasitoids aged. This decline resulted from a decrease in the rate of oviposition rather than a decrease in clutch size. Mean clutch size was 4.5 eggs. Total lifetime fecundity, oviposition rate, and clutch size were highly correlated with the weight of the female adult, whereas longevity of females was weakly correlated with weight. There was no correlation between longevity and adult weight in males.
