TISSUE CULTURE STUDIES OF SHEEP PULMONARY ADENOMATOSIS (JAAGSIEKTE) .I. DIRECT CULTURES OF AFFECTED LUNGS

Direct tissue cultures of enzyme dissociated jaagsiekte lung lesions from twenty-four cases of the disease have been examined. Two types of changes have been observed in such preparations. A proliferative response occurred in cultures set up at conventional seeding rates. Cultures modified so as to contain a higher proportion of macrophages exhibited a cytopathic effect characterised by the development of intranuclear inclusions. The latter effect was irregularly present in fourteen cases. © 1968.
