摘要
The status of fiber attachment to guided-wave devices is discussed. Current methods for achieving low fiber-waveguide-fiber insertion loss are discussed and techniques for aligning and permanently attaching the fibers are described. The focus is on butt or 'end-fire' coupling of single-mode fibers to single-mode waveguides.
