Far infrared absorption of liquid and gaseous carbonyl sulphide up to the critical region

摘要
The far infrared (15-200 cm(-1)) spectra of Liquid and gaseous OCS along their coexistence curve are reported. The cold liquid exhibits a broad absorption attributed to perturbed librational motion in the local structure. In less dense phases (gas and hot liquid) a free rotation envelope spectrum appears. together with smaller absorption at higher frequencies, whose origin is discussed.
