摘要
A small percentage of a stock foot-and-mouth disease virus population was found to be relatively resistant to adsorption with homogenized adult mouse kidney. To select this portion of the population, a series of 10 passages was performed, each passage consisting of adsorption with homogenized kidney and propagation of the unadsorbed virus in bovine kidney cell cultures. The selected virus was relatively resistant to adsorption with mouse kidney and relatively avirulent for adult mice. It was immunogenic in adult mice and seemed to be antigenically the same as the parent virus. This information might possibly be used in selecting viruses for live virus vaccines. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
