摘要
Data on structural changes of layers resulting from ion beam treatment of the surface is discussed. Copper, iron, and hard materials (WC-6%Co) were ion implanted (copper, nitrogen, molybdenum). The structure was studied using transmission electron microscopy. It was found that after implantation a dislocation structure developed consisting of small dislocation loops of vacancy and joint connection types. The total density of dislocations decreases with the depth and layers which were not damaged were observed at a depth of 20-mu-m. At the same time a modified layer with improved wear resistance extended to a depth of 150-200-mu-m.
