Reported that the behavior elicited by hypothalamic stimulation could be changed by environmental manipulation. Testing of this hypothesis which employed high-intensity stimulation found the explanation that new behavior results from the lowering of the threshold of independent neural circuits so that a previously subthreshold current becomes capable of eliciting 2 or more behaviors to be inadequate.
