The reaction of an aryl azide with either Mo(CO)2(Et2dtc)2or MoO(Et2dtc)2 yields Mo(NR)2(Et2dtc)2 and MoO-(NR)(Et2dtc)2, respectively. The reaction of Mo(NR)2(Et2dtc)2 with HCl gives Mo(NR)Cl2(Et2dtc)2, and the reaction with CHjBr results in Mo(NR)Br2(Et2dtc)2. While the reaction of MoO(NPh)(Et2dtc)2 with HCl gives Mo(NPh)Cl2(Et2dtc)2,the corresponding reaction with MoO(NPhNO2)(Et2dtc)2 (PhNO2 = p-C6H4NO2) leads to MoOCl2(Et2dtc)2. The metathesis of Mo(NR)Cl2(Et2dtc)2 and Et2dtc gives Mo(NR)(Et2dtc)3 +. The oxo analogue of this complex was prepared from the reaction of MoO2(Et2dtc)2 with HBF4. A plausible mechanism for protonation of complexes containingthe MoO2, MoO(NR),and MO(NR)2 fragments is suggested. © 1979, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
