The aim of this research is to develop methods for the design of plastic components for impact loading situations. The study concentrates on the prediction of the initiation of the failure in an impacted component. The validation of the modelisation was made comparing calculated force - displacement curves with experimental results obtained on plates in a first time and on domes in a second time. Results are presented for two materials, a polypropylene and an alloy (PA/PPO), which exhibit an elastic-plastic behaviour.
