摘要
Optical Wireless (OW) transmission can be severely impaired by background noise (BN) produced by artificial ambient light and by multipath dispersion. In this paper, a pyramidal fly-eye diversity receiver (PFDR) with different fields-of-view (FOV) is presented and used to combat the penalties caused by ambient light interference and multipath propagation. We also discuss the effect of changing the FOV on the performance of the PFDR in optical wireless systems. Simulation results show that a significant improvement can be obtained by using PFDR with an optimized FOV and the performance of such systems is much better than that of conventional diffuse systems. Pulse responses and noise distribution at different locations within a set-up room are presented with different receiver FOVs for a pyramidal fly-eye detector and a conventional diffuse system. Moreover, analytical probability of error results are presented demonstrating the improvement our optimized PFDR gives over conventional diffuse systems. We examine the effects of changing the receiver FOV on BN and multipath dispersion.
