PIXE was used to analyze trace elements in human hair. Using a external beam, hair from workers exposed to GaAs was examined. The results are in fairly good agreement with those obtained by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Using the PIXE technique in vacuum hair from mentally defective children was analyzed and compared with the hair of normal children. In a similar way, hair from a 3200 year old preserved mummy was studied.
