摘要
The major principles of the design of VLSI array processors for real-time signal/image processing requirements are presented. The major impacts of VLSI technologies are then reviewed, with particular attention given to the communication problems inherent in VLSI. VLSI-oriented array processors that circumvent the communication constraints are discussed. Several types of array processors that are important to DSP applications are then proposed. Mappings of algorithms onto array architectures are addressed, together with the issues of coping with the communication constraints and improving pipelining rates. The author then presents new array algorithmic criteria and analyses tailored to the array processing environment and discusses the implementation and design considerations of DSP array processor systems.
