The validation of a numerical model based on multiyield plasticity theory is presented. The validation is performed by using a series of centrifuge model soil tests performed by two centrifuge laboratories within the context of the VELACS (verification of liquefaction analysis by centrifuge studies) project sponsored by conventional laboratory soil tests performed by the Earth Technology Corporation, and by empirical correlation formulae available in the literature. The parameter identification procedure is explained in detail, and a unique set of constitutive parameters is used throughout the numerical simulations.
