A visualizer was built for the alignment of infrared optical systems and lasers, and for the determination of the transverse distribution of the power density in infrared beams in the range 10** minus **3-6 W/cm**2. Infrared radiation was made visible by interchangeable panels carrying layers of cholesteric liquid crystals.
