This paper reviews conformational studies carried out by many researchers on polypeptides and related compounds by using NMR spectroscopy. General discussion is presented under headings - conformational characteristics of polypeptides; modern NMR methods; chemical shifts of polypeptides; scalar couplings; and nuclear relaxation. Linear polyamino acids and polyimino acids were studied in some detail and comprehensive experimental data are presented and evaluated. Refs.
