Optical-optical double-resonance spectroscopy of CaF: The E 2Σ+ and E′ 2Π states

Optical-optical double-resonance (OODR) spectra of CaF are recorded, with reduced Doppler broadening, using two cw, single-mode dye lasers. Molecular constants for E2Σ+ and E′ 2Π are obtained from rotational analysis of the 0-0 and 1-0 E21Σ +-A2Π bands and the 0-0 E′ 2Π- A2Π band, supplemented by fragmentary observations on the E′-A 0-1 and 1-1 bands: (Table Presented) Main parameters The E′ 2n state is observed for the first time. Improved constants for the A2n state are obtained by fitting all extant rotational and vibrational information for the E′-A and A-X systems. The E and E′ states are found to obey the unique perturber rather than the pure precession relationship. Copyright © 1980 by Academic Press, Inc.
