摘要：

Due to industrial discharge over many years, Naylor''s Run Creek, in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania, USA, accumulated potentially dangerous levels of pentachlorophenol, commonly used as a herbicide, fungicide and insecticide for wood preservation, and for slime control. The analytical procedure for determination of the compound is described, typical analysis results are presented and possible methods to alleviate the problem are discussed.
