In this paper the pbysieal-mechanical property of fluid-mud is analysed. The Conclusion is reached thaf the fliud mud can be treated as Bingham fluid.
Experiments were carried out in a tank, Observations were on the physical phenomena of the loss of stability of the interface between Fluid-mud and flowing water. A fomula for determining Critical velocity of the loss of stability of the interface and also as eriterion of stability of the interface is derived.
Experiments were also carried out in a tank with varying slopes, Fluid Mud was introduced to flow along the bottom, while water was admitted to flow on top of it. Observations were made on the velocities of Current in water and Fluid Mud. From the experiments, it is observed that fluid-mud flows mainly under the action of gravity in whole layer, the shearing action of flowing water is limited in a very thin layer.
