本文探讨19世纪上半期英国私立疯人院繁荣现象背后的原因,认为疯人增加、资本主义商品经济发展、人们对疯癫的认识和态度改变、疯人院在政府法令规范下自身的调整与改善以及国王乔治三世发疯都是这一时期疯人院增加的重要原因。
