Beginning with its definition,this article analyzes the background of metadata.Then,it elaborates the researches on the transformation between metadata and USMARC and points out the possibility of the transformation and feasibility of using USMARC to catalog the network information resources.Finally,the article analyzes the relationship and difference between metadata and cataloging data.
