清代健讼外证——威海卫英国法庭的华人民事诉讼

The paper,by introducing the practice of an English court in the British concession of Weihaiwei in the late Qing Dynasty,tries to prove that the Chinese people in the Qing Dynasty were found of litigation.The reasons for the popularity of the English court at that time were its convenient and informal procedures,relatively low litigation fee and application of Chinese laws and customs.However,even before the establishment of the English court in Weihaiwei,people there had already been accustomed to submit their civil disputes to the local administrative officials for solution.
