Speech act is an important issue of the philosophy of language. With the development from analytic philosophy to the philosophy of language,and then to the philosophy of mind,the contemporary philosopher Searle has been dedicating himself to perfecting speech act theory for decades. Firstly,based on the whole process of conversation,he enriched speech act theory within the framework of pragmatics,widening the scope of the philosophical study of meaning; secondly,by introducing the notion of intentionality,he explored the psychological basis of speech act theory,indicating the direction for the convergence of the philosophy of language and the philosophy of mind; thirdly,focusing on social reality and stressing collective intentionality,he offered new thoughts on the interaction between language and society. Centering on the complex relations of "language-mind-society" ,Searle has made a systematic and thorough analysis of speech act theory from three different dimensions,bringing profound implications for the philosophy of language.
