地区研究创生史十年:知识构建、学术规划和政治-学术关系

摘要：

在美国社会科学、高等教育体系和智识生活中创建对于美国以外世界各地区研究的庞大学术群落和跨学科制度体系,大体经1943一1953年而告成。地区研究创生史阶段奠定了美国战后地区研究的基本智识和制度格局,呈现出知识构建事业、学术体制改造工程和学术思想运动的内容和风貌,社会科学研究理事会(SSRC)在这一过程中扮演了战略性的领导、推动和中心规划的关键角色。SSRC在地区研究方面的活动构成了地区研究创生史的基干,其参与或者独立组建的地区研究专门委员会、所主持召集的各种层级的会议以及所发布的学术、思想和文化内涵丰富的报告,反映了地区研究创建过程所具有的学术规划的根本特性。地区研究创生史在本质上是一个学术性事态,过于简单化的"冷战知识史"或者"冷战社会科学史"对政治一学术关系的认识模式不符合这一实际历史过程。
