<正>0引言作为数理统计学的基础理论和重要工具,回归和相关的历史源远流长、备受关注,美国著名统汁史学家斯蒂格勒(stephen Mack Stigler,1941-)、国内的陈希孺院士、于忠义和窦雪霞都系统探究过其发展历程:高尔顿(Francis Galton,1822-1911)研究生物遗传问题时创新性地提出了回归和相关慨念,但他拙于数学表达;是埃奇沃思(Francis Ysidro Edgeworth,1845-1926)提炼出超脱变量实际含义、具有纯数学意义的回归定义和样本相关系数公式;皮尔逊(Karl Pearson,1857-1936)系统整理了上述零散、表达模糊的研究结果,将其广泛应用到生物学领域;尤尔(George Udny Yule,1871-1951)抛开皮尔逊正态
