摘要
The Chinese society is based upon Guanxi(interpersonal relationship).As an important social fact,Guanxi does not exist only in the Chinese society.We then have to ask how does Guanxi become so fundamental to the Chinese society?How does Guanxi affect the social life of the Chinese?These are the questions that this paper tries to wrestle with.The study focuses upon the concept of Ji(self)in the Chinese culture and attampts to find the cultural origin of the Chinese society as a guanxi\|based one.Ji is an entity comprising relationships and is called “Guanxi prototype” in this paper.Ji is both passive and active,both emotional and rational.The paper particularly argues for the of Ji’s selfhood and Ji’s rationality so as to show that Ji the Guanxi prototype is a dynamic structure.It is hence generative and makes “make Guanxi”(Zuo Guanxi)possible.
