This paper is a research on women’s status in the countryside of Zhejiang Province. Using the data attained from survey, the author describes women’s position and role in family-factories, and shows, under the background of industrialization, the change of women’s status in family and social status. During the course of women’s stepping out of the family and into the public sphere, female autonomy and community’s culture atmosphere take effects. Although the family-factory provides a way for women to step out of family, there are many difficulties for them to participate in public affairs and improve their social status. There is asymmetry between their family status and their social status.
