基于当下城市设计的实践及其历史,采用六种重叠的形式分析其本质和作用。,城市设计被看作是某一背景中的干预手段,是创造与转化建成环境的一个环节,意在研究这一行为的本质及其产生的多维度背景。,在社会、技术和美学中,城市设计为城市空间的转变提供指向。,城市设计所扮演的角色通常是联结空间中的不同部分,旨在创造一个较局部而言,更具意义、更有用的综合整体。,因此需要深刻理解它在城市转变过程中的角色和贡献,特别是它一直被不断地改进和调整,与数个学科和专业产生重叠,而这些学科和专业,都在寻求清晰的专业领域和位置。
