The author puts forward the basic theoretical feature of Chinese School of Comparative Literature; that is, the intercultura1 studies.This feature differs from those of French and American Schools of Comparative Literature. The intercultural studies put cultural differences on the centre stage. The French School crosses borders of nations and promotes the mutual influence among literatures of various countries; while the American School crosses borders of disciplines and connects Iiteratures of various countries without any rnutual influence; however, the burgeoning Chinese School will surely cross the different cultures between east and west and reconsturct the concept of World Literature by connecting eastern and western literatures.The author concludes, from the above mentioned basic feature,that approaches to the Chinese School should include: Textual Explication, Comparative Studies of Differences and Similarities, In Search of Cultural Models, Communicative Studies and ConstructionStudies.
