Historik(历史知识理论)概念在德国史学思想史上有其传统。德罗伊森所讲授的历史方法论课程也以该词命名。他把历史知识理论规定为历史思考和研究的工具,极力跟历史科学的百科全书、历史哲学或神学、实证主义以及历史诗学划清界线,而对于其历史理论还较多依赖的古典语文学理论,他却很少提及。
