美国社区学院的国际化是在其自身历史推动、经济发展需要、教育要求和政治推动等多方面因素影响下发展的。其21世纪以来采用的"全面国际化"发展策略主要包括明确发展理念和完善组织管理、促进师生国际流动、加强课程国际化建设和国际交流合作等,目前在许多方面取得了较大进步,如整体国际化水平提高、发展速度加快、涌现出一批国际化发展程度较高的院校等。同时,受社区学院"服务当地"办学性质影响,美国社区学院国际化发展也受到传统观念、师资组成、生源特点和资金不足等因素的制约。
