This essay shall discuss the Chinese conception of "being morally moved"(dao de gan dong)and its philosophical significances in our understanding of the nature of moral virtues,as well as that of Confucian Exemplary Ethics. It argues that "being morally moved",as the start of our moral consciousness and the evidence of the very existence of moral virtues, should not serve as something which sets up one or a set of absolute moral rules,i.e.,the bottom-line for all of our moral judgments, rather,it is something which helps in cultivating and building up our moral beings and characters. In this way we are led toward a better and happier life.
