The socalled US neohegemonist stresses the morality and the legitimacy of the hegemony. While refusing to conquer the world with armed force or occupy the land of other nations, it emphasizes that the way to realize the US hegemony in the world is to spread the freemarket economic system, the democratic political institution, the American way of life, and the ideology based on Christian culture. The American political cultural tradition has played a very important role in the newhegemonist foreigh policy of the US. As Engles pointed out, with the economy as the foundation, the various factors of the superstructure will always affect the process of the history and will decide the form of this struggle in many times. This article discuss the role that political cultural tradition played in the US neohegemonist foreign policy from the following aspects: ideological base, cognitive model and consistent goal. The purpose is to analysis the real nature of the US neohegemonist foreign policy from a new angle.
