摘要：
The paper introduces the basics of virtual reality, its characteristics, its types, and its roles and application in distance education. As a new teaching media, virtual reality can provide learners with two-way interaction, as well as an authentic learning environment. Its appearance will no doubt bring about far extending influence on the educational mode and efficiency.
