Editor's Summary:This symposium is aroused by the publications of professor Petersmann's Constitutional Functions and Constitutional Problems of International Economic Law in Chinese. The author of the book, prof. E.-U. Petersmann is invited to give a brief introduction to the book for Chinese readers in the new century and reply several questions for the better understanding of the book and his approach of research. Meanwhile, the translators are asked to give brief comments on main issues of the book. He Zhipeng in his "The Contribution and Limitation of Liberalism" discusses the thoughts of classical liberalism and its developments, and raised the question of whether constitutional rules have the ability to solve all contradictions. Sun Lu in her "Human Rights in International Economic Mechanisms" gives a brief reflection on the arguments of human rights in international economic systems, and makes the conclusion that human rights are doubtlessly the aim of international economic law, but the real issue is how to realize human rights in this area. Wang Yanzhi, through the introduction of the development of constitutional approach in international economic law in his contribution "The Constitutional Approach of International Economic Law", shows the importance and potential future of the constitutional approach.smann
