It is estimated that annual waste produced worldwide totals up to 10Billion tons, 2 tons per capita per year. The rising waste deteriorates ourliving environment, causing a lot of troubles for human beings. Today theannual city waste produced per capita is 400 kilograms in China, comparableto food supply, 380 kilograms per capita per year. Direct loss due to citywaste is about 25 Billion to 30 Billion RMB. It is even worse that citywaste is rising by 5 to 8 percent every year and two-thirds of large andmidium-sized cities have been surrounded by the waste. The numbers showthat China is the most burdened country by city waste. Waste has been oneof the most urgent issues, which affect living quality of Chinese citizens andshould be tackled seriously from now on.
