Since 1987,we have sent into space about fifty spedes,three hundred varieties of crops in recoverable satellites.Among them, we selected a high-yield,disease-resistant and hghrid-vigorous rice strain;a recovered line of Japonica rice which can recover sterility of Indica rice ; anew green pepper strain which grows fruits over 3O0grams in weight; adisease-resistant,high-quality tomato strain;a big-pod rape strain; abig-fruit white lotus strain and a big-bulb lily. The special conditions in the outer space can induce a variety of mutations in the plants and their progenies, which provides a new way for plant breeding.
