近年来,一些女性以贪官或妻子(情妇)身份卷入贪腐丑闻的事件引发了媒体的高度关注,但有关的学术研究不多。文章试图填补在媒体关于女性腐败的大肆报道和对中国腐败学术研究性别忽略之间的空白。我们追问腐败中的性别相关性,并探讨腐败是否应该以及在多大程度上可以被理解为一个性别化的问题。文章首先提供了一些涉及女性腐败的例证并勾勒出女性参与腐败的3种形式。基于这些中国的经验,文章在介绍、提出各种理论的同时,进一步考察了性别在中国腐败中扮演的角色问题上与这些理论之间的关联。
