摘要：

美国现代派诗人威廉.卡洛斯.威廉斯在探索新诗体的过程中借鉴了绝句与白居易的短诗。40年代,他为了写长诗而丢弃了1916至1920年创建的"立体短诗"。1958至1961年他与华裔诗人王燊甫合译中国诗,又让他得以在晚年重拾起这一诗体。本文用大量文献资料、结合中英诗歌比较,论证了中国古体诗与威廉斯"立体短诗"之间的渊源关系。
