A great number of scholars and specialists, Western or Chinese, consider it impossible to separate student-centredness from Communicative English Language Teaching,but this article,after a brief review of the issues on the conception of student-centredness and careful critical analysis and appraisal,arrives at the conclusion that Communicative English Language Teaching is an approach of English language teaching while student-centredness is a dogma because of the use of simplistic solution to the complex process of EFL teaching and because the conception of the student-centredness,without catching the essence of the issue,may be misleading
