Since the 1990s, the economic cooperation in the Great Mekong River Region has emerged as the times demand. Though the Vietnamese government once took cautious attitude towards the cooperation, it soon took a positive one and hoped to play a unique and dominant role in the field. From now on, Vietnam will participate in the cooperation, all along greatly promote the friendly relationship with its neighbors and positively join the multi-lateral or bi-lateral regional cooperation programs so that it could achieve its win-win goal of developing its economy and raising its international status.
