摘要：

This paper describes and expounds the usage of the adverbs of "bìng" and "yòu", from a semantic background point of view to illustrate their differences in situation in which they are used. The author emphatically points out that, in the teaching of Chinese as a second language, it is essential to explain clearly the semantic background of every lexical or syntactic item that is taught.
